PSAT...An Opportunity for ALL 8th Graders!
On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, the PSAT will be given at Summit Parkway Middle School.
The PSAT could be considered a practice for the SAT, which is one of the most recognized college admissions test. The great thing about taking the PSAT in the 8th grade is that is an opportunity to take a test that is similar to a high-stakes test, but has none of the pressure.
I always tell students that no college admissions committee or scholarship committee has been heard to say, "We would say, 'yes,' but we can't because of those 8th Grade PSAT scores."
In addition, if a student scores high enough in the reading or math section, they could be designated as a South Carolina Junior Scholar. For more information on the SC Junior Scholars Program, please visit the site at https://ed.sc.gov/newsroom/scholarships/sc-junior-scholars-program/.
The cost of the PSAT is determined largely by your lunch status. If you pay full price, the cost is $16.00. If you are on Reduced Lunch, the cost is $9.60. If you are a free lunch student or you participate in the AVID program, the cost is FREE.
