9th Oratorical Contest of Richland County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The Richland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is

pleased to announce their 9th Oratorical Contest: Fictional Short Story Edition. The Oratorical Contest affords middle school students an opportunity to enhance their

public speaking skills, while promoting self-confidence, educational enrichment, creativity

and character building.

The Oratorical Contest will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from

12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Midlands Technical College - Airport Campus, Academic Center Auditorium, which is located at 1260 Lexington Dr, West Columbia, SC 29170.

Applicants are asked to write and present a short story on the theme “A Futuristic World

and the Uncertainty of AI”.

Applications must be received by Friday, November 1, 2024. Essays must be submitted during the mandatory orientation on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Monetary Prizes will be awarded:

• 1st place $250

• 2nd place $200

• 3rd place $150
